Biografie
Originally from Bordeaux, Chrystèle grew up in the
countryside and at the seaside before exploring the towns, in
particular Paris. After studying cinema at the Conservatoire Libre du
Cinéma Français, she discovered photography and in 1998 created the
information and communication service photography centre for the
Ministry of Justice. The diversity of her reportages allowed her to
build up a collection of more than 10,000 photographs intended for the
whole judicial institution.
At the end of 2004, she left the institutional world and now works as a
freelance author/photographer, favouring artistic photography.
Fascinated by art, the influence of painting and plastic arts has led
her to develop notably a photographic series on Nepalese paper and rice
paper. She is also dedicated to design creating ‘object-works’ with her
photographs. ‘Light Boxes’, her first creations, made entirely by hand,
are a union of photography, wood and light. With the constant concern
to place the human at the heart of her work, her approach is profoundly
linked to the idea that everyone can make art enter their interior. She
is currently preparing a book about independent rock.
