Kyoto
Kyoto is a town in the Kansai region. With its 2,000 temples, palaces, Japanese gardens and architecture, the town of Kyoto embodies tradition. A top tourist spot, people come from all over the world but also from over the whole archipelago to discover this cultural centre. Some Japanese tourists passing through take the opportunity to put themselves into the shoes of the geishas.

Nach seinem Fotografiestudium an der Kunsthochschule von Montreal in Kanada, arbeitete Xabi Etcheverry als Filmset Fotograf. Als er für einen geplanten kurzen Aufenthalt in das „Land der aufgehenden Sonne“ reiste, blieb er jedoch schließlich ein Jahr. Dieses Bild ist aus dem Buch „Avoir 20 ans à Tokyo“ (Ein 20-jähriger in Tokio) entnommen, das in dem französischen Verlag „Éditions Alternatives“ erschien.
