Hitchcock, Psycho
Psycho is one of Hitchcock’s greatest successes. Filmed in black and white by choice, it only cost one hundred thousand dollars and made several tens of millions. The film had two sequels, the second of which was directed by Antony Perkins himself. The scenes in Psycho are extremely bare and half the time it is silent. The staging is as sharp as the knife used for the murders, beginning with the credits showing black and white bands across the screen interlaced with piercing music. When it came out, the unbearable suspense was maintained by the posters at the time, inciting the spectator not to give away the end of the film and indicating that, "no-one would be able to enter the cinema after the beginning of the film".
