Chinatown, Madison Street
The streets of Chinatown are great for wandering. Fabulous stores for buying Asian groceries and goods may be found there (which make great souvenirs) and even the seafood markets which are worth a look. When you get hungry, there are many options for delicious, affordable food representing a wide variety of Chinese cuisine: restaurants specializing in Dim Sum; Cantonese cuisine; congee and seafood. Since the late 1870s, Chinese immigrants have been settling in the New York City area. Despite the Exclusion Act of 1882, the community and geography of Manhattan's Chinatown have developed. Since the relaxing of the laws in 1965, the immigrant community of Chinatown has grown and the census of 1980 indicated that New York Chinatown is the largest Chinese American settlement in the U.S.

Cédric Mainguy was born in Aix en Provence on June 2nd, 1975. Cédric was introduced to travelling around the world at a very young age. He returned to France to go to university and completed his studies at Reims Management School in 1999. Cedric then continued travelling around the world for several years, experiencing other cultures, meeting people from other communities, seeing the beauty and sometimes ugliness of the world. His journey finally brought him to New York where he lived for 7 years. Whilst working as an investment banker, Cedric continued working on his true passion, photography. He soon specialized in creating large panoramic pictures of Manhattan street blocks. Exploring new techniques, Cedric developed a unique way of capturing the spirit of New York. Thanks to his original perspective, the streets of New York reveal their true nature and seem to have a mood of their own.
